Linda Ashman is the author of many picture books, including Babies on the Go, illustrated by Jane Dyer, Castles, Caves, and Honeycombs, illustrated by Lauren Stringer, which was named a Booklist Editors' Choice, and Rub-a-Dub Sub, illustrated by Jeff Mack. She lives with her family in North Carolina..
Christian Robinson likes to stay indoors on rainy days and look out the window while drinking a big cup of hot cocoa. He has illustrated this book, as well as a few others, while staying indoors on rainy days. In 2016, he won a Caldecott Honor for Last Stop on Market Street. rainy day fun

It's a rainy day in the city! A little boy is super excited about the rain and a grumpy old man wishes it would just go away! This book represents how two different people can perceive the same event in two entirely different ways! It also shows how a simple act of kindness can go a long way.
This will appeal to a wide variety of ages groups.

A fantastic book for children and the adults who read to them

I recently found this title under the "New Books" shelf in the children's section of my local library. I flipped through it and decided to borrow it for my 2 1/2 year old daughter almost exclusively because of the illustrations. The graphics are incredibly fun, lively and thoughtful, and the positive message is a bonus. She loves this book and has asked for it almost every night since we returned it. Though she can't read, the images are clear enough for her to intuit the story, and she simply loves the boy. I am online now buying this not for her but for a few close friends who live in NYC because this book will cheer anyone up on a rainy day.

RAIN needs to be in your home library!

I'm very critical of new children's books because I'm an early childhood educator and parent so if I buy a book it has to be one I'm willing to read often and enjoy with my children and students. This is exactly one of those books.
It's simple. I can read it in less than 5 minutes at the end of the day or before bed.
It has a message. The message of your attitude is contagious isn't just spoken but children can seek out it's depths in the illustrations and pauses in the book.
Multiple ages enjoy it. My 3 year old likes the illustrations and words of the story yet my first graders love it because they get it, really get how attitudes can spread like wildfire.
A wonderful addition to your collection and fun to read on a rainy or sunny day!
